Clams with Garlic & Chives


  • 4 pounds of clams, scrubbed and cleaned very well
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped chives
  • 1 tbsp minced ginger
  • 1 soda can of 7-up
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Heat up a large saucepan over medium fire and melt the butter in olive oil.
Add garlic and ginger. Cook for 2 minutes.
Add the clams, 7-up, and salt.
Cover the pot on liquid starts to boil. Cook for 6-7 minutes and turn off heat.
Remove any clams that did not open. They are bad.
Add the chives and squeeze lemon juice into the mix.
Give the pot a quick stir.
Serve with baguette or your favorite bread.
